Welcome to Sola Dei Verbum. The name of this website is Latin for "The word of God alone." We desire with all our hearts to live by His divine word, treasuring it, submitting to it completely, and embracing every syllable with which God has spoken to us. It is the goal of this site to explain and defend the Catholic faith in a way that is both easy enough to understand and comprehensive enough to cover any important material. There are many Catholic apologetics websites on the internet, and this is only one of them. There truly is a wealth of information to be found amongst these sites if anyone only takes the time to look. We recognize that many of the resources that people would need is already availble amongst these sites.

However, it is our hope that this site will be somewhat different. For much of the information here, Sola Dei Verbum will be simply another address to get the same information as one could find elsewhere, but we also hope to fill in some of the gaps that may be out there. We realize that sometimes it can be difficult to understand some of the more complicated topics. We also know that there are some questions which may not seem important enough to be answered at other sites but which nevertheless can be a challenge to a person's faith. Everybody has at one time or another had the experience of coming across a challenge to his or her faith which is truly troubling, but which does not seem to have an answer to be found anywhere online. It's also true that many Catholic apologetics sites provide a great deal of information to Catholics for defending their faith, but do not have as readily availble information to those non-Catholics who may be searching for answers. We earnestly and prayerfully hope that we can help to bridge those gaps here.

Most of all, we hope to handle all the material we deal with here in a charitable and Christian way, realizing that the beginning to all solutions is love. Jesus Christ loved us all the way to death so that we can live, and ultimately all He asked in return is that we love as He did. The truth does matter; after all, Jesus Christ is truth incarnate. Sometimes, the defense and love of the truth can be divisive, or even harsh. Christ did, after all, say He came to bring a sword, turning man against father (Mat 10:34-35). Ultimately, however, His final prayer was for a unity of the children of God (Jhn 17:21), and this unity can be achieved only by following the two greatest commandents, to love God with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mat 22:36-40). Thus, as we follow the instruction of St. Peter and defend the faith with humbleness and fear (1Pet 3:15-16), we will also do so with the love of Christ, seeking only to help souls follow Christ as well as His abundant grace will allow, and to love Him with all our hearts, minds, and souls.

Ad Jesu per Mariam,
